Land’s End on the western Cornish coast of England looks out over the Atlantic Ocean from the height of tall rocky cliffs. The grassed tops of the cliffs are full of wild flowers that flourish in the milder south westerly climate despite the storm force winds of winter. From spring, through summer and autumn, visitors come to walk the coastal path along the tops of the cliffs and to spend a few relaxing hours at the visitor centre. The Land’s End visitor centre has its own large car park, eateries, a variety of shops and amusements. It also encompasses the Land’s End signpost that everyone has their photograph taken under. Roads lead from the Land’s End visitor centre to Kelnyack, St Just and eventually St Ives northwards . The drive takes visitors through some outstandingly beautiful countryside. There are the tall stacks of tin mining chimneys abandoned at intervals, scattered farmhouses and nicely maintained holiday cottages. Cornwall remains one of Britain’s best loved summer holiday destinations. People adore those quaint villages, Cornish pasties, cream teas and all the associated tourist nonsense that makes this corner of Cornwall busy and interesting. Travel south east from Land’s End to Porthcurno and beyond the Mousehole, another favourite cottage holiday spot. All around the coast there are harbours and sailing.
